Lolade's Corner - Who plays the piper?

Relationships are/is supposed to be reciprocal, but more often than not it doesn't work that way, most times, you find one partner being the dominant figure and the other just tags along.  Now the question is - is it a norm for this to happen or are relationships influenced by culture, tradition, environment or religion?
